MTL à TABLE @ Chez Ma Grosse Truie Cherie – Grastropub

Chez Ma Grosse Truie Cherie is gastropub in the Village that serves up French-inspired Québec cuisine prepared with local produces. From unconventional pork and beef dishes (pig jowls, pork osso bucco, braised beef shoulder) to seafood and vegetarian choices, this place has a little something for everyone!

For $29, their 3-course MTL à TABLE 2014 menu is a total bliss. Both appetizer choices are delicious. The squash cream soup is ideal for the cold weather and the terrine is a great compliment for the bread. As for main course choices, pig jowls is definitely the winner of the night – so tenderly cooked and flavorful with such interesting texture in a good way. If you’re up for adventurous pork parts, pig jowl is your take. Finally dessert time! If you like meringue/marshmallow plus silky vanilla custard, go for the vanilla île flottante and set your taste buds floating with the little island!

Although not usually opened on Sunday, it was a full house for the MTL à TABLE night. Our waiter seemed somewhat overwhelmed and did not come to the table enough to check on us. But overall, it was a wonderful experience: great wine selection, delicious food with great portion and a warm, fun ambiance.
